hi,

i have a member file server joined to my domain with my home directories,

i have configured a domain user with rsat

i login with the domain user on windows 8,

everything work as it should, the user home directory is mapped to the z
drive,

when i check the properties for my desktop or libraries they are in
local directories on the c drive and not the remote file server,

how should i go about getting my desktop automatically on the file
server for each created user ?

hi everyone

following the instructions from the webpage below

i try to start the Group Policy Management console

which reports back the following error

'the RPC server is unavailable'

the DC is on arch linux , do i need to just start the rpc daemon running
or is it a configuration in smb.conf ?

Did you open the necessary ports in the DC's firewall?

Ignore that message, wait en klik on, should work and setup the following.
If not, check you SePrivileges if you have all needed.
( i normaly set everything for "Domain Admins" )

Open gpo editor.
User Policies.
- windows settings
- folder redirections. Something like :

Set you path : \\member.internal.domain.tld \users\%USERNAME%\Desktop
Of use one for all. But that needs a bit different right.

So here make you use (or dont use) the exclusive rights.

And make user to add or authenticated users to this policy.
Or with security settings, set the assigned group you want + domain computer.

The computer account now apply the user policies also.
( due to a MS change this is obligated, see post this week in the list )

Greetz,

Louis
